Finding the right hourly rate is one of the most difficult things we encounter as freelancers.

When I first began freelancing, I was charging way too low. It wasn’t necessarily because I was undervaluing myself (although I was), but it was mainly because I was not accounting for all of the expenses associated with freelancing.

I didn’t take into account doing business expenses like internet, time tracking software, or even web hosting. After I sat down and really figured out what it cost to run my business each month, I realized that I desperately needed to raise my rates.

But how exactly are you supposed to go about finding your hourly rate?

Creative Live has just posted a fantastic infographic that will get you on the right track to figuring out what you should be charging. Check it out here.

P.S. If you’re wanting to learn more about calculating your freelance rates, I would also highly recommend the ebook ‘How much Should I Charge?’ by Millo’s own, April Greer. It’s an amazing ebook that is simple to understand and even comes easy to do spreadsheets to calculate your own hourly rate.
